Allergy Testing

Do you suspect that you may have allergy? Yes, we test for environmental, food, and allergies to pets including cats, dogs, horses, and rabbits.

We utilize the IgE Allergy Scratch Testing, which is now the Gold Standard in Specific Allergy Diagnosis. IgE Allergy Skin Prick Testing is the most common method of allergy test and is relatively painless. A very small amount of certain allergens is put into the patients skin by making a small indentation or “prick” on the surface of the skin. If the allergy is positive, a little swelling that looks like a mosquito bite will occur where the allergen was introduced. You don’t have to wait long to find out what is triggering your allergies as reactions occur within about 20 minutes.

Immunotherapy

Not only do we test for this. We also provide treatments for your allergy through immunotherapy. Allergy Immunotherapy provides permanent relief for airborne allergies.  Immunotherapy treats the cause of your allergies and does not just mask the symptoms. We utilize the Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) or Subcutaneous Immunotherapy (SCIT) for treatment. Both SLIT and SCIT treat the cause of allergies by giving small doses of the allergen to the patient. Exposure to these small doses over time increases the immunity or tolerance to the allergens and reduces the allergenic symptoms. When an allergen is presented this way, the immune system learns to tolerate the allergen. The result is less allergy symptoms when the body is exposed to the allergy source such as airborne pollen or pet dander. SLIT is given as drops under the tongue while SCIT is given as an allergy shot.  Allergy shots are effective, but are given in a physician’s office. SLIT offers a great alternative treatment option for people reluctant or unable to undergo allergy shots.
